I got an e-mail today from Jim Messina, campaign manager of "Obama For America." He wants me to contribute $5 (or more) to get my name on a NASCAR "Powered by the American People" stock car.

Great: the same tone-deaf people who gave us Dukakis in a tank are now saying: Hey, we're regular rednecks just like you. We love the roar of the engines, the smell of burning gas and oil, and we also hope someone crashes (just not on us). Maybe I can get my name on an NRA plaque celebrating the Second Amendment (direct from God). Maybe I can sponsor a military-themed country and western song.
It took Obama nearly four years to realize that you don't suck up to these people: they'll simply kick your teeth back down your throat. Could we fire Jim Messina and get someone who'll run a real campaign? This is one of the dumbest ideas I've ever come across.
Oh good grief!!! This is why Democrats lose so often: they are simply incompetent at politics.
